Galaxy Tab-Touchpad Made By Samsung

Tablet devices have a multitude of electronics hitting the consumer market worldwide, Samsung is stiff competition. Samsung touchpad devices have been predominantly used in their notebook computers and smart phone hardware lines. Never before had Samsung created a tablet device, that is until the Galaxy Tab.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Was the company's answer to the rising competition within the tablet device market. With its software firmly based within the Google Android OS architecture, the Galaxy Tab immediately caused an open-source flurry of interest.

Instead of opting for a closed-OS experience, such as that of Apple's iPad, Samsung allowed application developers for its tablet device to be as open and daring as possible: through the Android application market. As a result, many users found initially that the Galaxy Tab had a much more expandable and customisable feel to the device, over the iPad and iPad 2.

However, such customisation is not without its flaws. Android is notorious for the dodgy nature of some of the applications within an application market, partially due to the fact that it allows any application submission without approval first. And although such a revelation could be seen as a bad thing in some consumers' eyes, the galaxy Was set to appeal to a different had of consumer (from that of the iPad) from the beginning of its creation.

Much like BlackBerry's PlayBook, the Samsung touchpad offering came in a different sort of package from that of Apple's iPad. A smaller screen (7 inch), and lighter weight, allowed it to be marketed as a more portable device. This, coupled with the open source nature of the device, allowed it to be marketed to consumers and business users alike. An emphasis on content within the device (with media, such as photos and videos) allowed the Galaxy Tab to have some kind of competition and edge over other tablets in the market.

The Galaxy Tab itself also comes with Flash support built into its web browser, allowing its users to view Flash content whilst browsing the web. This is an advantage over Apple and its iPad, which does not support Flash. These reasons combine to form a rather substantial consumer demand for the device, however, never surpassing the demand for Apple's iPad.

In producing the Galaxy Tab, Samsung used its design expertise and investment in touchpad technology to produce a device that felt very hands-on and usable from the start. Its notebook computers had always had reputable touchpad technology built in as standard. Not only did investment to give something a good footing, but its reputation as a notebook manufacturer also added to its media presence and focus whilst marketing the Galaxy Tab.

Ultimately, the Galaxy Tab has become one of the major competitors within the tablet market. Due to legal squabbles, the sale of the Galaxy Tab within some territories has been restricted, however, the device itself remains a very viable and technologically advanced tablet to be used by consumers and business users alike. The legacy of Samsung and its touchpad technology will continue to produce many exciting and innovative products that allow the consumer electronics industry to progress and grow.
